Dr. Mark Strazicich recently co-chaired a presentation at the eighth International Odyssey Conference in Zagreb, Croatia.
The conference, which highlights economic and business issues, took place June 8-11, 2016.
Strazicich and Alka Obadić, an economics professor from the University of Zagreb, co-chaired the concurrent session on labor productivity and education in the economics track, which featured five presentations.
During the session, Strazicich also delivered content on Convergence of income and educational attainment: minorities in the United States. Other content areas included: labour productivity in the European union; working time, labour productivity and working time organization; the role of higher education in boosting innovation; and the role of public administration performance in improving the business environment for SMEs in the EU.
The 2016 conference theme was "an enterprise odyssey: Saving the sinking ship through human capital."
Strazicich, who joined the faculty at Appalachian in 2004, specializes in Macroeconomics, Econometrics and International Economics. His research has examined economic growth and the distribution of world income, economic growth and pollution, the behavior of government debt, and developing and applying time series tests with structural breaks. His work has been published inThe Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, Economic Inquiry, Economics Letters, Environmental and Resource Economics, and the Journal of Macroeconomics.
Strazicich earned his Ph.D. in economics at the University of Washington, and holds Master's and Bachelor's degrees in economics from Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia, respectively.
